Breastfeeding Support Groups

Mother’s milk has all the nutrition needed to keep a baby healthy. You and your baby can enjoy many benefits of breastfeeding including a very special attachment.  Breastfeeding is an individualized process for each mother and baby, our staff is trained to be the best support possible for all breastfeeding moms.

Mommy group is for prenatal moms and moms with babies or toddlers. It is held in our toddler-safe gathering room.  A breastfeeding counselor leads the group and makes sure that everyone is introduced. There is always an opportunity to ask questions about breastfeeding, share experiences, and talk about related topics as well. Older siblings are welcome but must be under the supervision of a parent.

PLEASE NOTE:

Our groups are available at no cost because we want parents to have opportunities to gather with other parents. If you have the ability to pay, a one-time fee of $15 to help defray the cost of the groups is appreciated.

You do not need to register to attend group. Just drop in. If you are late, that is fine.

For wear and tear on the room and safety concerns, we ask that you do not bring food or drink to group. If your child requires a snack, we ask they sit on your lap to eat. Water in a spill proof container is fine.

FAMILY is a well-child facility. We want moms and dads to feel comfortable bringing their new babies to our facility. If you or your baby or child are sick with a cold or flu, we ask that you wait until you are recovered to come to group. This is for everyone’s protection.

Breastfeeding support groups are a collaborative effort between Pottawattamie County WIC, FAMILY, Lutheran Family Services of Nebraska, and Alegent Creighton Health.
